1. Introduction

Znippet is operated by Znippet, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK). We provide an AI-powered Adobe Premiere Pro plugin that helps content creators repurpose and publish video content faster. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you visit znippet.ai (the "Site"), use our plugin, or subscribe to our services.

By using our Site or services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our services. The types of information we collect include:

Account Information

  • Name and email address (provided during registration or via Google OAuth)
  • Password (stored as a secure bcrypt hash; we never store plaintext passwords)
  • Subscription tier and account status

Payment Information

  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. We do not store your credit card numbers, CVV, or full payment details on our servers.
  • We retain a Paddle customer ID and basic transaction records (amount, date, subscription status) for billing and tax compliance purposes.

Usage and Device Information

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and device information
  • Pages visited, referring URLs, and interaction patterns on the Site

Plugin Analytics Data

We collect analytical data about how you use the Znippet plugin to understand which features are most valuable and to improve the product. This includes:

  • Which plugin features are used and how frequently (e.g., silence removal, transcript editor, social clip generation)
  • Session duration and workflow patterns within the plugin
  • Feature engagement data such as number of clips generated, words removed, and captions created
  • Device information used to run the plugin (operating system, Adobe Premiere Pro version)

This data is used solely to improve Znippet and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Under GDPR, this processing is based on our legitimate interest in improving the product, and you may object to it at any time via your dashboard.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

  • Session and authentication cookies (essential for Site functionality)
  • Google Analytics 4 cookies (active by default in restricted mode — IP always anonymized by Google, no advertising signals — no consent required)
  • Microsoft Clarity cookies (for session recordings and heatmaps — requires consent)
  • Google Ads cookies (for conversion tracking and remarketing audiences — requires consent)

AI Processing Data

The following features send your transcription data to third-party language models via the OpenRouter API:

  • Social Media Snippet Maker — your transcript is analyzed to identify the best moments for short-form clips (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
  • YouTube Video Editor — your transcript is analyzed to suggest edits, structure, and cuts for long-form video
  • Automated B-Roll Generation — your transcript is analyzed to suggest relevant B-roll placements

What is shared: Only the text transcript of your video is sent to the language model. No audio, video files, or personal account data is included in AI requests.

What happens with it: Your transcript data is processed in real-time to generate the AI output and is not stored by Znippet or OpenRouter after processing. It is not used to train or improve AI models.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery — To create and manage your account, process subscriptions, and provide access to plugin features
  • Payment processing — To process transactions, generate invoices, and manage billing through Paddle
  • Analytics and improvement — To understand how users interact with our Site and plugin, identify issues, and improve the user experience, including analysis of which plugin features are used and how
  • AI feature processing — To deliver AI-powered features (Social Media Snippet Maker, YouTube Video Editor, automated B-Rolls) by sending transcript data to language model providers
  • Fraud prevention — To detect and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, and security threats
  • Communications — To send transactional emails (e.g., subscription confirmations, billing receipts) and notifications about new features and product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — Processing necessary to deliver the services you have subscribed to, including account management, payment processing, and plugin functionality
  • Legitimate interests — Processing necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as analytics, fraud prevention, and service improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Consent — Where you have given explicit consent, such as for marketing communications and non-essential cookies
  • Legal obligation — Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, such as tax and financial record-keeping requirements

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our Site. Below is a summary of the categories of cookies we use:

Essential Cookies

Session and authentication cookies required for the Site to function. These cannot be disabled. Includes session identifiers and NextAuth.js authentication tokens.

Analytics Cookies

Google Analytics 4 is active by default in a restricted, notice-only mode. IP addresses are always anonymized by Google before any data is stored — we have no access to full IP addresses. Advertising signals and Google Signals are disabled. This use is based on our legitimate interest in understanding website traffic. No consent is required, but you can opt out at any time via your browser or Google's opt-out tool.

Functionality Cookies

Microsoft Clarity records anonymized session replays and generates heatmaps to help us improve the user experience. Personal data is masked in recordings. Requires consent.

Marketing Cookies

Google Ads measures the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns (conversion tracking) and may build remarketing audiences to show ads to past visitors on other Google properties. Requires consent. These cookies are only loaded after you accept.

Functionality and marketing cookies are only loaded with your consent. Analytics cookies (GA4) are active by default in a restricted mode based on legitimate interest. You can manage your preferences at any time through your browser settings or via Google's Analytics opt-out tool. Learn more about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate Znippet. Each provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Paddle — Payment processing, subscription management, and Merchant of Record
  • Google Analytics 4 — Website traffic and usage analytics
  • Microsoft Clarity — UX analytics, session recordings, and heatmaps
  • Google Ads — Advertising conversion tracking and remarketing audience building
  • Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, and edge hosting (Workers)
  • Supabase — PostgreSQL database hosting and authentication infrastructure
  • OpenRouter — API proxy for AI language model processing used by plugin features

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share personal information only with the categories of third parties described above and only to the extent necessary to operate our services:

All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for purposes other than providing services to Znippet.

We may also disclose personal information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

8. International Data Transfers

12. Do Not Track

We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals sent by your browser. When we detect a DNT signal, we will not load non-essential tracking technologies such as analytics and marketing cookies. Essential cookies required for Site functionality will continue to operate.
